      From the Hebrew inscription: An Honest Upright Godfearing Man David Jonatshan resident of Durham who departed this world on the 23rd day of the month Tammuz 5619.



      Inscription from the memorial stone at Ayres Quay Cemetery, Sunderland: This monument was erected by the children of David Jonassohn of Usworth Hall, Durham, in memory of their beloved parent who died on the 25th July 1859 in the sixty fourth year of his age.
