    • Joseph Servian was born Josiel Serwianski in Sejny in Suwalki gubernia in NE Poland in 1844 (near lake Serwy). Joseph was the son of Hannah and Mordechai Serwianski. He came to Liverpool in about 1875 with his wife Ada, three children (Leah 1868-1894, Abraham 1873-1940 and Samuel 1875-1938) and also his brother Barnet (1855-1918, who emigrated to USA in 1905). He became a naturalized citizen. Joseph was a glazier and picture frame maker by trade, but branched out into retail furniture and pawnbroking. He died in Liverpool in 1915. [Source: J.
