From the Hebrew inscription: Mr. Mordecai bar Hayim Breslau Sunday 9 Iyar 5624.
- A letter to the editor of the Jewish Chronicle 04 Mar 1870: states that 'Mr Breslau stood forth as unpaid champion and defender of Judaisim' [extract] and 'surely such a man should have some simple memorial stone to mark out his last resting place. I would subscribe my mite towards it, yours truly I.L Levison.' [extract].
Mr Levison writes again in April 1870 to state that the funds have nearly been raised. [2, 3]
