Marriage of Asher Seligman and Sarah Watchman 1927

Asher Seligman married Sarah Watchman in Dublin, Ireland. Sarah was born in 1904 and Asher, a clothier, was born 1903.

To commemorate Sarah’s marriage the General and Ladies Aid Committee of the Talmud Torah presented her with a beautiful pair of Sabbath candlesticks which have this dedication ‘ “Presented by Members of the General and Ladies Aid Committee of the Talmud Torah to Miss Sara Watchman on the Occasion of Her Marriage to Mr. Asher Seligman 28th Dec. 1927”.

The candlesticks were made in 1880 by James Bembridge Hawksworth Eyre & Co.

Sarah was the daughter of Jacob Watchman and Minney (nee Marks) from Lithuania. The family settled in Dublin in the late 1890’s.
