- Rachel lived her life on the West Coast, but died after falling ill on the Cook strait ferry, which travelled between Wellington and Lyttelton. She had been to the North Island to visit her brother and oldest son. So this was the first place she set foot in New Zealand as a little girl, and her final resting place.
